Gregory Stanley is a Chartered Financial Planner (CFP) and licensed Mortgage Broker in BC (BCFSA) and Alberta (RECA) through Home N Work Mortgages Inc., and holds the Certified Smart Equity Coach (CSEC) designation. He is co-author of The Canada Reverse Mortgage Guide® and co-creator of the Protected HELOC Approach® with Matthew Hines.

My Approach
I came to reverse mortgages through decades of sitting across kitchen tables in BC and Alberta, watching retirees make consequential decisions with incomplete information — sometimes guided by advisors who didn't fully understand the product they were recommending.
Most people come to me having already decided they don't want a reverse mortgage — or having already decided they do. My job is to slow that down.
A reverse mortgage, the Protected HELOC Approach®, a conventional refinance, or no mortgage at all — these are all valid outcomes depending on the full picture. What I bring that most mortgage brokers don't is the financial planning layer: how does this decision interact with your estate, your tax situation, your investment portfolio, your income plan?
That question usually changes the answer.
